Allotment Rubbish

The committee has decided, with regret, that the OBAGS shop will remain closed at least until the end of March next year.

The over-riding concern is the welfare of our volunteers. We cannot ask them to put themselves, and by extension their families, at risk by manning the shop over the winter period. Many of our volunteers are particularly susceptible to Covid-19 on age grounds alone.

The committee has also agreed the following:

2020 membership cards will remain valid until the end of 2021.

Everybody who is on OBAGS Membership Group Mailing List, which includes 2020 members, members from 2019 who did not get the opportunity to rejoin and a few members from the recent past who wished to remain on the mailing list, have been given the 2021 Suttons Discount Code, which is valid until the beginning of September 2021.

UPDATE 12/01/2021

Regarding the roll-out of the vaccination programme, the initial target is for all people over the age of 70, care home residents and their carers, people who are ‘shielding’ and their carers and frontline NHS staff to be offered an initial vaccination by 15 February. My understanding is that people in their 50s/60s and people with underlying conditions which make them particularly vulnerable to Covid-19 will be offered a first dose by April. Younger age groups with no particular vulnerabilities will be brought in from May, culminating in all 18+ adults by Autumn 2021.

There are many imponderables and caveats associated with this forecast but, with regards to OBAGS re-opening, my current estimate is that this will be June/July at the earliest and at the start of our 2021/2022 season on 7 November 2021 at the latest.

Stay Safe.
